A Deeper Dive into Yoga Philosophy
The focus of many Yoga classes is on the body—on improving flexibility and physical strength. Did you know that these are byproducts of Yoga and NOT the goal? Yoga is an ancient philosophy to address the nature of the mind, which is often the source of unwise behaviors and unhappiness if we don’t understand its nature.
The definitive text on Yoga, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, contains 195 concise statements, or sutras, that address the systematic process of attaining self-knowledge and, ultimately, the state of absolute freedom.
This workshop/retreat will include lecture, journaling, discussion, chanting, and exploring our thoughts using a Yogic lens.
This workshop is for you if you are interested in:
something beyond the physical practices of Yoga
understanding the link between our thoughts and our behaviors
recognizing alternative ways of thinking and behaving
laughing at our follies.
Everyone is welcome, from newcomers to those experienced in the sutras.
We will come together for a lighthearted weekend to share our interest in Yoga, our stories, and learn how to take these archaic concepts and put them to modern-day practices in our lives.
